\r\n 宗親会とは、「同姓＝父系血縁」イデオロギーのもと、同じ姓を有することを根拠に便宜上の共通の祖先を立て、その祖先への祭祀を通して集団意識を維持する擬制的父系親族の社会結合である。成員権が生まれつき決まる宗族とは異なり、宗親会は任意加入の社会組織である。宗親会の結成目的は、同姓一族の勢力拡大や、同姓者の相互扶助、親睦促進、情報交換、ネットワークの拡大を図るところにある。
\r\n 中国人にとっては、父系血縁は社会制度上重要であり、血縁に基づいた親族関係や組織は、中国社会の人間関係や社会構造の骨格を形成するものである。したがって、伝統的な父系親族関係や組織の変容を解明することは、この古くて新しい中国の社会変化を理解し、その未来を把握する鍵の一つとなる。そのために、筆者は、擬制的父系親族組織である宗親会を研究対象にしたのである。
\r\n これまでの研究は、宗親会の血縁関係、形成理由、メンバーシップ、宗親会と宗族の組織関係、祖先崇拝と国家との関係に言及し解明してきたが、一方で、それらの先行研究には、以下の二つの欠点があげられる。まず、宗親会を宗族原理と比較しながら、宗親会の形成要因、特徴、構造などを指摘するに留まり、宗親会と地域社会、個人との関連、各歴史時期における社会的・経済的・政治的状況に応じた宗親会の変動の様子については、ほとんど検討されていないことである。次に、宗親会と国家との関係が十分には論じられていないことである。
