Empirical studies occasionally provide principles that cannot be applied directly to other group-living species. Because of this, researchers are required to address fine-scaled conceptual questions and to incorporate species-specific characteristics of the study species. In this paper, I raise three key topics that will promote our understanding of animal sociality: the effects of heterogeneous social relationships on the pattern, distribution, and function of social interactions; conflict management for maintaining group living; and meta-dyad-level perspectives for understanding dyadic social relationships and behaviours. Through the discussion of these topics together with examples of group-living mammals, I emphasise the importance of direct behavioural observations and functional analyses in studies of species- or taxonomic-group-specific characteristics of social behaviour in a wide range of taxonomic groups. In addition to approaches focusing on specificity, another approach that examines the general principles or common characteristics found across different taxonomic groups could provide synthetic and reductive frameworks to understand divergent sociality. The complementary use of these two approaches will offer a comprehensive understanding of social evolution in group-living animals.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_5_description_7":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"第12回(2008年)日本生態学会宮地賞:沓掛 展之[総合研究大学院大学講師]","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_5_relation_12":{"attribute_name":"関連サイト","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"宮地賞推薦理由"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"http://www.esj.ne.jp/esj/award/miyadi/12.html","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}},{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"SpringerLink(The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com) "}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11284-008-0563-4#","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}},{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"Privacy statement "}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"http://link.springer.com/termsandconditions","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_5_rights_10":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"© 日本生態学会 "}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"沓掛, 展之"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1368","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"KUTSUKAKE, Nobuyuki","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1369","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"other","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843"}]},"item_title":"Complexity, dynamics and diversity of sociality in group-living mammals","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Complexity, dynamics and diversity of sociality in group-living mammals"}]},"item_type_id":"5","owner":"21","path":["310"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2013-05-13"},"publish_date":"2013-05-13","publish_status":"0","recid":"3545","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Complexity, dynamics and diversity of sociality in group-living mammals"],"weko_creator_id":"21","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T15:29:16.340781+00:00"}
