In the course of further analyzing their foraging behavior in a laboratory condition, we found that some butterflies could not land on the target flower even they discriminated and tried to land on it, especially when the target was dark. This phenomenon, which we call “landing suppression”, indicates that the cue for landing differs from the cue for visually locating a flower. We hypothesized that a possible cue for landing was intensity contrast between the target and background, and have initiated to test this hypothesis. We tested the butterflies’ landing behavior to targets of various colors and intensities presented on background of black or various densities of gray. As a result, the landing was most strongly suppressed when the intensity contrast was close to zero irrespective of the target colors, suggesting that the butterflies used the target-background intensity contrast when landing.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10001_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"SpringerLink"}]},"item_10001_relation_13":{"attribute_name":"PubMed番号","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"21847617","subitem_relation_type_select":"PMID"}}]},"item_10001_relation_14":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_name":[{"subitem_relation_name_text":"10.1007/s00359-011-0671-4"}],"subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"https://doi.org/10.1007/s00359-011-0671-4","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_10001_rights_15":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"SpringerLink(The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com) "}]},"item_10001_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"03407594 ","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"KOSHITAKA, Hisaharu"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"ARIKAWA, Kentaro"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"KINOSHITA, Michiyo"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Intensity contrast as a crucial cue for butterfly landing","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Intensity contrast as a crucial cue for butterfly landing"},{"subitem_title":"Intensity contrast as a crucial cue for butterfly landing","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10001","owner":"21","path":["96","119","267","286","321","333"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2013-10-23"},"publish_date":"2013-10-23","publish_status":"0","recid":"4019","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Intensity contrast as a crucial cue for butterfly landing"],"weko_creator_id":"21","weko_shared_id":21},"updated":"2023-06-20T14:27:51.397552+00:00"}
