{"created":"2023-06-20T13:23:29.001486+00:00","id":4362,"links":{},"metadata":{"_buckets":{"deposit":"6e546310-f9de-4dc5-b0eb-3545faecbebf"},"_deposit":{"created_by":24,"id":"4362","owners":[24],"pid":{"revision_id":0,"type":"depid","value":"4362"},"status":"published"},"_oai":{"id":"oai:ir.soken.ac.jp:00004362","sets":["28:43:338"]},"author_link":["2564","2562","2563"],"item_10002_biblio_info_7":{"attribute_name":"書誌情報","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2014-03-31","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"10","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"総研大文化科学研究 "},{"bibliographic_title":"Sokendai review of cultural and social studies ","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_10002_creator_23":{"attribute_name":"フリガナ","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"ミツヒラ, ユウキ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_10002_description_19":{"attribute_name":"フォーマット","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"application/pdf ","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10002_description_5":{"attribute_name":"抄録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"太古から現代に至るまで、人間は心身の治療や健康促進、維持する手段として音楽を用いてきた。私はそうした音楽療法の奥深い歴史の中で生み出された大いなる遺産を紐解くことが、現代の音楽療法理解にも繋がると考えており、その1例として、本論文ではリチャード・ブラウンの『医療音楽』（1729）を取り上げた。というのも、薬剤師であるブラウンは、これまでは主として哲学者や聖職者が取り上げてきた音楽療法について、初めて医療の立場から『医療音楽』という1冊を割いて、音楽の持つ治療的作用について言及しており、このことは、音楽療法の歴史を考える上で先駆的なものであると考えられるからである。\n \nしかし、同書についての先行研究に関しては、『医療音楽』全体に焦点を当てた著作や本格的な論文は未だ見当たらない現状にある。そこで本論文は『医療音楽』について、ブラウンによって匿名でその2年前に書かれた『歌唱・音楽・舞踊機械論』も参考にしながら、1．書誌学的考察、2．ブラウンの人物像、3．『医療音楽』の内容、4．『医療音楽』に見られる機械論的身体観、5．『医療音楽』で重視された治療原理、と稿をすすめながら、ブラウンの音楽療法を解明することを研究目的とし、それと共に音楽療法の歴史における『医療音楽』の位置づけも試みた。\n \nその結果、ブラウンの音楽療法には、ピトケアン学派の影響が顕著に見られ、その中で治療原理として「アニマル・スピリッツ」と「非自然的事物」という2つの概念を重視していたことが明らかとなった。『医療音楽』は理論書であり、実践書ではないものの、現代の音楽療法と同様に、「歌唱」、「音楽」、「舞踊」を通じてもたらされる生理的、心理的、社会的な効果を応用して、心身の健康の回復、向上を図ることを目的として書かれている。その点で、『医療音楽』はやはり、音楽療法史上、現代音楽療法の萌芽とも言うべく、重要な著作であると考えられる。\n\nSince primeval times, people have used music as a component of physical and mental therapy and as a means of promoting and maintaining good health. To fully understand music therapy in its contemporary form, it is crucial to reveal the rich heritage of music therapy in the course of history. This study analyzes Medicina Musica (1729) by Richard Browne. Browne was an apothecary who worked on music therapy, a subject historically taken up primarily by philosophers and clergymen. His contribution in Medicina Musica made him the first to offer insight into music therapy from a medical perspective. Browne’s description of the therapeutic effects of music is believed to be a pioneering work in the history of music therapy.\n \nIn previous studies that treat this book, neither books nor scholarly articles focusing on Medicina Musica in its entirety have been found. This article investigates Browne’s music therapy by analyzing Medicina Musica itself. Making reference also to a work that Browne wrote anonymously two years before the publication of Medicina Musica called A Mechanical Essay on Singing, Musick and Dancing (1727), this article includes (1) a bibliographical review, (2) an account of Browne’s life and times, (3) a description of the content of Medicina Musica, (4) a description of the mechanistic view observed in Medicina Musica, and (5) a summary of the therapeutic principles found in Medicina Musica. Finally, I have tried to position Medicina Musica in the history of music therapy.\n \nBrowne’s approach to music therapy was significantly influenced by Pitcairn and his students.
